Meatsmith was born out of a question: Why couldn't jerky be a little better and why aren't protein bars made from simple meat-based ingredients?

The question was answered by creating a meat bar made with simple, nourishing ingredients and complemented with gourmet flavours. For the past two years we have worked together, along with chefs, food scientists, nutritionists, and dietitians, to create the Meatsmith product we all love.

HOW IT'S MADE

We slow cook AAA Canadian sirloin steak for 10-17 hours. During this process, the bar loses most of its water weight, leaving us with a delicious, premium 10g of protein for a 28g bar. We only use REAL high quality ingredients and NO fillers. Why sugar and nitrites? To bind the remaining active water content and to ensure a stable shelf life.

Everything! Meatsmith bars are more natural than protein bars and healthier than jerky. Our bars are crafted with high quality yet simple ingredients which provide a healthy and unique snack that is real, gourmet, and delicious.

What is the shelf life of a Meatsmith bar?

The shelf life of our bars is 10-12 months.

Do Meatsmith bars need to be refrigerated?

No! As long as the package has not been opened, they do not have to be kept in the fridge.

What are the quality standards for Meatsmith bars?

We take pride in the quality of our bars. They are gluten free, dairy free, are non-GMO, and have no added sulfites.

How much protein is in a Meatsmith bar?

Do Meatsmith bars contain soy?

No. You won’t find any soy here.

Is there added sugar in Meatsmith bars?

We have carefully selected natural cane sugar as our sugar source. We have consciously used a minimal amount of natural cane sugar without sacrificing taste and quality.

Why is there fat in Meatsmith bars?

Beef naturally contains fat, and we want our Meatsmith bars to be as authentic and natural as possible.

Why isn't there more protein in Meatsmith bars?

Beef is primarily composed of protein - so the protein in Meatsmith bars comes naturally. To increase the protein in our bars, we would have to add extra ingredients like soy protein isolates. We prefer to keep it real.

Are Meatsmith bars made with grass-fed beef?

We only use 100% grass-fed Canadian beef. What a cow eats has a significant impact on the nutrients in the beef. Eating grass is natural to a cow - eating grains is not. At Meatsmith, we value authenticity and quality and are proud to offer grass-fed beef.

Why do you use sirloin?

Sirloin tastes better – way better! While we experimented with different beef cuts and blends, we knew we couldn't sacrifice taste and quality. We are proud to offer 100% sirloin beef which is a lean and favourable steak cut.
